It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of one of our dearest and most dedicated club members, Ian โTexโ Harcla.
A true gentleman, a devoted family man, and the very heart of our hockey community, Ian gave his time, energy, and passion to YMCA/City United/Kedron Wavell Hockey Club for over five decades.
From playing in City United/Kedron Wavell Hockeyโs very first season in 1976 right through to 2025, his commitment on the field was matched only by his tireless work off it. Over the years, he served as:

Ian was more than a volunteer โ he was a cornerstone of our clubโs history and spirit. His quiet leadership, generous mentorship, and good humour touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time. He leaves behind an incredible legacy, and he will be deeply missed by the entire City United/Kedron Wavell Hockey family.
Rest easy, mate. You gave us your all โ and weโre all the better for it. ๐โค๏ธ

This International Womenโs Day, they are highlighting the experiences of three exceptional mothers, as they share their journeys in raising their remarkable daughters offering a glimpse into the journeys of their daughters and the unwavering support that fuelled their successes.

Christine Blanchard: Mother of Mel Blanchard, the inspiring umpire featured in the 2023 Women in Sports International Womenโs Day event.
Elise Stapleton: Mother of Brianna Thompson, the accomplished open-water swimmer highlighted in the 2023 Women in Sport International Womenโs Day event.
Sue Morrison: Mother of Charlotte Morrison, the exceptional individual from Emergency Services celebrated at the Inspiring Inclusion International Womenโs Day event.
